In today’s online world, you see marketing EVERYWHERE. Banners, pop-ups, spam. If you’re on social media, you get it even more. So with all of the marketing schemes, I am always very, very skeptical of promos and giveaways. Exceedingly so, almost to the point of paranoia. I do not sign up for anything. Not blogs, websites, anything. So when I first found @GasGardenTrivia (ran by the wonderful Gabbie) and I saw “Free gas card giveaway!” I snorted at the thought, but I do enjoy a game of trivia, so I joined in the game. Now bear in mind that at the time of posting Gas Garden has only recently changed their format to a sign up on a website format. When I played it was a daily trivia question posted to Twitter, or I would not have even gotten involved. I don’t sign up for things, as stated above. She would ask a question via Twitter, I would answer. I figure if she started trying to sell me crap that I’d just block her and that would be the end of it. But lo and behold, I earned enough points to win $10 worth of gas cards! So I sent her my address and didn’t hold my breath too much. I am truly skeptical.

So when I got my cards in the mail and was even more exited than I had been when I was notified that I had won! But because I am a true skeptic of free things, I haven’t said a whole lot about it until now, because I’d not tested the gas cards to make sure they work! (Told you I’m a skeptic!) Sure enough, my car is $10 worth of gas happier now.

So as I stated previously, they changed the format of how their daily trivia takes place. You now go to a website and play not only trivia, but fun picture search games and such. The drawback (in my opinion)? You have to register. I think I mentioned that I don’t sign up for anything. HOWEVER. Because I wasn’t marketed to with this previous win, I have gone ahead and signed up, and no, I’ve not been marketed to. No spam, no extra crap in my mailbox.

So how can YOU win free gas? It’s really easy. You go to the website and play the trivia. You don’t even have to have a Twitter account now to play! But you do get the daily reminder from them to go play to earn the points via Twitter, which is handy. So what are you waiting for? Go earn some free gas! It’s not fast, but it’s something to do, right?
